It is reported that Microsoft is hammering away to develop an Xbox gaming store for mobile devices.
Microsoft was trying hard to convince the regulators of the acquisition of Activision Blizzard and now the plan of a $68.7B deal for acquisition was revealed after that, it announced its plan for initiating the development of the Xbox gaming store.
However, the accession is still under process and yet to take place as the Competition and Market Authority(CMA) of the UK is investigating it.
The reports say that the company is planning to expand their mobile gaming offerings which also includes the establishment of a mobile app store and they also expect to make a gaming presence of Microsoft.
In just a short span of time, mobile gaming has gathered immense popularity and marketability. This probably happened after the introduction of some of the first shooter games and if Microsoft enlarged its support and interest with an Xbox gaming store, we can assume that push that will, the gaming industry is going to get.
Microsoft’s Statement in its Filings
In the filing, via Verge, Microsoft quoted the following thoughts-
The ability of Microsoft to develop a game store of leading edge which will be able to operate across a range of gadgets, including mobiles will improve by this transaction as a result of Activision Blizzard’s content addition.
The Xbox will seek to escalate the Xbox store to mobile by building on the existing communities of gamers on Activision Blizzard, which are extremely attractive to gamers, to a new Xbox Mobile Platform.
They are also aware of the difficulties that will surely come to their path of new beginnings and this was visible when they said a statement that-
“A major alteration of focus in consumer’s behavior is required to shift them from their familiar mobile app stores of Google and Apple. They hope that by offering some famous and well-liked content, gamers will be more admired to experience something new.”
Integration of Activision Blizzard with MICROSOFT
According to Microsoft, the mingling of Microsoft with Activision Blizzard will give the company cosmic visibility and valuable presence in the market of mobile gaming as it has given very famous and at-hand games like Candy Crush and Call of Duty on Mobile.
It was said by Microsoft that more than half of the company’s revenue was accounted for by Activision Blizzard and ancillary revenue in the first half of 2022.
Microsoft said in the same filing that Microsoft has no relevant knowledge and understanding of the mobile gaming system and the development, retailing, and advertising in the mobile game will get the much-needed proficiency by this transaction.
Microsoft also stated that Activision Blizzard will be able to furnish its enlightenment and intellect from developing and publishing mobile games to the studios of Xbox.
While the regulators of the U.K. are still putting a scrutinized eye on the integration of Microsoft and Activision Blizzard, the Brazilian regulators have already approved their affiliation.
